Respectfully, Ayo Edebiri Does Not Want to Look at Half-Naked Jeremy Allen White

She's not falling for that trap.

Ayo Edebiri gives good red carpet. Remember when she gave an interview about how she prepared to play Jenny the donkey in The Banshees of Inisherin? Fun times. So naturally, at the 2024 Golden Globes, where Edebiri took home the trophy for best performance by a female actor in a TV series (musical or comedy) for her role on The Bear, reporters were trying to get her to say something click-worthy. Their bait of choice? Her costar Jeremy Allen White’s recent Calvin Klein campaign.

Edebiri was, respectfully, not having it.

When Access Hollywood asked her about the campaign, she deflected, “I’m happy for him, that’s my boy…I do feel like I want people to understand he’s my coworker.”

After the ceremony, Extra tried the same tactic, actually bringing out a giant poster of Allen’s campaign in front of the entire cast of The Bear, causing the Iron Claw star to blush hard.

Edebiri wearily took the poster and placed it against the wall so the picture was hidden. “I’m putting it away,” she explained, adding, “This is a work function!” She has a point. Imagine asking an actor to playfully objectify a female costar. We’d be having a different conversation.

Let all entertainment reporters take note: The Bottoms star cannot be baited. And really doesn’t need to be, since Ayo Edebiri is super entertaining when left to her own devices. In her acceptance speech, she thanked her managers’ and agents’ assistants, getting an appreciative nod from Taylor Swift and also from every assistant watching the event out of the corners of their eyes while they field a hundred texts from their bosses.

Yeah, that’s more fun than yet another thirsty ode to how hot Jeremy Allen White is. I mean, who even remembers what all the fuss was about? Were the ads even that hot? Let’s just take a look to remind ourselves.

Okay.

Well.

Yeah.

Nice!
