Leaving aside the Barbiecore trend that accompanied her everywhere in 2023, Margot Robbie opted for a little black dress at an event in Los Angeles.

The Australian actor knows very well the cards to play to win the games she plays. From her most casual outfits composed by the three-piece rule to the most sophisticated ones for red carpets, Robbie's style has become a source of inspiration for many. Although she was already an icon before launching Warner Bros.' highest-grossing film, the spotlight has stayed on the performer since the release of Barbie.

Aside from the references to the movie, which were featured heavily during the promotional tour, Robbie's style does not revolve around pastel colors only. As seen on January 5, more neutral tones have a very important place when it comes to her compositions. Swapping the pink she had us so accustomed to for black, she opted for a design by the French fashion house Schiaparelli—more specifically, the plunging V-neck minidress that opened the brand's fashion show for the spring-summer 2024 season.

At W magazine's annual Best Performances Party in Los Angeles, Robbie's styling was composed of a little black dress (which has much to tell us about the trends of next season), a clutch, and the most viral footwear of the 2000s that deigned to return in 2023. Yes, a pair of peep-toes.

The little black dress worn by Robbie incorporated so many details that it's necessary to break down all the trends in the seemingly simple look, starting with the XL shoulder pads, a feature that we will continue to see in 2024. The structured nature of the Schiaparelli garment played with optical effects—a tool often used by the house through design and sewing techniques—undeniably suited the Barbie star. The marked waistline of the garment exaggerated this effect even more, taking us directly back to the era of the New Look of Christian Dior.

Unlike the runway look, Margot Robbie dispensed with the black tights, giving the ensemble a more springlike touch. To all this, she added a clutch smaller than the one we saw on the catwalk, and the jewel in the crown: a pair of peep-toes with the signature lock of the fashion house. These peep-toes—reinterpreted by the house once founded by Elsa Schiaparelli and whose creative direction is currently in the hands of Daniel Roseberry—are just further evidence of the growing popularity of this footwear design in recent months. Yes, they are back!

As for the beauty look, Robbie opted to leave her blonde hair down in the quintessential Californian style (or Australian) with surfer waves that rested on her shoulders. Et voilà! The perfect look for any photo call.
