Florence Pugh is no stranger to a structural updo—or a shaved head, for that matter—nor is she afraid of a little see-through ensemble. At the 2024 Golden Globes, Pugh went all out, sporting both a faux-hawk and a sheer gown, proving that while it’s a new year, she’s very much still the queen of avant-garde red-carpet beauty and style.
Pugh kicked off the first awards show of 2024 with a modern take on a bleach blonde faux-hawk, complete with slicked-back sides and a sculptural center. If we didn’t know any better, we’d think she was preparing for a role as Miley Cyrus in her Bangerz era (can we manifest this, please?), or Mike Score from Flock of Seagulls. Clearly, the faux-hawk is timeless.
The 28-year-old, who is nominated as part of the Oppenheimer ensemble cast, stayed true to herself on the fashion front as well. Pugh complemented her punk-rock updo with yet another see-through dress, a bright red custom floor-length gown by Valentino.
Pugh completed the ensemble with a bold sparkling choker, her token septum piercing, and silver platform pumps. No notes. That’s a 10/10 for Florence Pugh and her first red carpet of the year.
Meanwhile, we’re calling it now: 2024 is the year of the punk rock updo.
