The ever-elegant Emily Blunt decided to give her column dress collection the night off at the 2024 Golden Globes. Nominated for her work in Oppenheimer, the actor instead graced the red carpet in a metallic slip dress with a sheer skirt.

The phrase “gilding the lily” must have been top-of-mind when this custom Alexander McQueen gown was made. The design centered on a heavily embellished V-neck bodice covered in gold sequins and floral embroidery, before flowing into a sheer white mermaid-style skirt. Blunt accessorized the dress by showering herself in diamonds, from her Tiffany & Co. diamond-encrusted gold-leaf necklace to her simple stud earrings, dazzling cuff bracelet, and oversized cocktail ring. She finished the look with a metallic gold manicure, Jimmy Choo platform gladiator shoes, and a slightly undone chignon secured with a statement hair pin.

Emily Blunt was accompanied by her actor husband, John Krasinski, who sported a red tuxedo, a black bow tie, and tapered maroon dress pants with a matching red stripe down the leg.

Blunt made a smashing debut on the Golden Globes scene in 2007, when she was nominated in two categories, across two mediums: for best supporting actress in a series, limited series, or motion picture made for television (Gideon's Daughter) and for best supporting actress in any motion picture (The Devil Wears Prada). She won for the former, and established herself in Hollywood with the latter. She's since racked up four more nominations and last night celebrated with her castmates when Oppenheimer, in which she played Kitty Oppenheimer, took home the award for best motion picture (drama).

This may be the last awards-season circuit we see Blunt on for a while, as the British actor recently revealed that she'd decided to take a break from acting for all of last year. “This year I’m not working,” she said during a podcast conversation in 2023. “I worked quite a bit last year and my oldest baby is nine, so we’re in the last year of single digits. And I just feel there are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they’re little…. The [projects] that are time consuming, I think, for me, are becoming fewer and further between because of the emotional cost on me, on the kids.” According to IMDb, she's already got a couple projects in the can, so the break in Blunt moments won't be too long, thankfully!
