Bob Haircuts Dominated the 2024 Golden Globes Red Carpet

Red-carpet hair trends come and go, but the bob haircut is here to stay. Case in point: The 2024 Golden Globes red carpet was brimming with bobs.
Several nominees sported the style, including Glamour Woman of the Year America Ferrera, who attended in support of Barbie; Emma Stone, who was nominated for two awards and won for Poor Things; and Ayo Edebiri, who won for The Bear.

Glamour’s 2023 Woman of the Year debuted her own fresh take on the undone bob, styled by hairstylist Aviva Jansen Perea using Briogeo products and the Dyson Round Volumizing Brush, Dyson Corrale hair styler straightener, and Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer Professional Edition.

Gerwig, who was up for best director and best screenplay for Barbie, sported a sideswept bob pixie—also known as a bixie—for the occasion. The director also jad her skin prepped by makeup artist Molly Stern using Glamour Beauty Award–winning Le Domaine Skincare.

Emma Stone’s cool-girl bob may be growing out, but it’s still technically in bob territory. The Poor Things winner and The Curse nominee’s hair was styled by celebrity hairstylist Mara Roszak, who used Rōz Root Lift Spray and Rōz Santa Lucia Styling Oil to create the look.
Stone’s hair is also red (again), thanks to celebrity hair colorist Tracey Cunningham. “Emma went back to her signature red after she did Saturday Night Live and right before the premiere of Poor Things,” she said. “When you’re coming from blonde, it’s hard because your hair does not want to accept the color, so I filled it first, then added a lot of Olaplex Nº.1 Bond Multiplier to the gloss. Emma is also great at doing her own Olaplex Nº.3 Hair Perfector treatments at home.”

Mulligan, who was nominated for her performance in Maestro, rocked a petite French bob on the red carpet. She was styled using Bumble & Bumble products, and her hair color was created by celebrity colorist and Olaplex global ambassador Tracey Cunningham.
“When I first did this blonde on Carey, she was already highlighted, so I had to go in between and take out all the dark pieces and really lighten her up. Now she’s a very pale baby blonde,” Cunningham said, adding that she used Olaplex Broad Spectrum Chelating Treatment to prep her hair for chemical treatment.

Jennifer Aniston, whose series The Morning Show was nominated for best television series, debuted a long bob at the first awards show of the year.

Edebiri, who won for her portrayal of Sydney Adamu on The Bear, debuted a chic Italian bob. Celebrity makeup artist Dana Delaney also used Benefit Cosmetics to achieve Edebiri’s glam, while celebrity hairstylist Miles Jeffries used Maui Moisture products to create the sleek hairstyle.
“Before blow-drying I prepped the hair with Maui Moisture Frizz-Free Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioning Mist and Maui Moisture Flexible Hold + Coconut Milk Curl Foam Mousse,” Jeffries said. “I then went through and smoothed the hair with a flatiron and a 1" curling iron being sure to add kicks and bends for a softer sleek look with some movement and a little flip.”

Garner is the queen of the pixie bob, and her Golden Globes showcased why she reigns supreme. Garner’s skin prep was courtesy of celebrity facialist Lord Gavin using The Method by Augustinus Bader.

Lee, nominated for Past Lives, wore an Old Hollywood bob to the Golden Globes, which inspired celebrity makeup artist Naoko Scintu’s vision for her glam. “I wanted to create a modern take on a classic look with a fresh dewy cheek coupled with a hint of color on the lips,” said Scintu, who used Sisley-Paris Color Cosmetics products to create the look.

Spaeny, nominated for her portrayal of Priscilla Presley in Priscilla, showed off a side-parted bob styled by celebrity hairstylist Kiley Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald used Kristen Ess products and the GHD Chronos Styler 1" Flat Iron.
“She is so beautiful. Her dress is so beautiful, elegant,
and fun. I wanted something that complimented all of
these things,” Fitzgerald said of the style. “To me it’s a modern blowout with a fun retro side part that’s subtle but elegant.”
